Save 75% Off on Gas

"Now, I know the watercooler comments of late revolve around gas prices. But as a Nissan LEAF driver, it’s not something I really think that much about any more. Sure, I drive by a gas station as I hop on the freeway on my way to work and I see the prices, but it doesn’t really impact me. (I do have to admit that I don’t miss the trips to the gas station.)
The other day, I noticed three different friends post photos of their gas pump charges. One friend was astonished to pay $5.19 a gallon here in San Diego. (He only got 2.5 gallons – and at that price who can blame him?) Another filled up their Camry to the tune of $75.
I’m part of the EV Project here in San Diego and was fortunate to get assigned to the cheapest “super off-peak” rate for my kWhs…but even in a month when I charge up using the penalty fare (on peak rates) from time to time, my monthly “fuel” bill hovers around $35. (I drive about 900 miles a month.) In my old car, I was probably paying $150 each month. And that was before gas was in the high $4s. On average, my 40-mile daily commute is costing about $1.25 in electricity.
So just think, not only does an EV help save the air, it’s also contributing to saving my wallet. I’m saving 75% in gas costs – and get to drive a cool car that turns heads at the same time."
