"Nissan’s performance division Nismo revealed a new hot version of the pure-electric LEAF at the Tokyo Motor Show.
It is the first time the Nissan LEAF Nismo Concept has been displayed and reveals a much more aggressive physique than its sister model, thanks to a modified body kit and chunky 18-inch alloy wheels. The modifications are said to generate extra downforce at speed and enhance the car’s handling and grip.

The major modifications focus on the front bumper, rear under protector, rear diffuser and extended side sills, positioning it somewhere between the standard road car and the existing race prepared LEAF Nismo RC.
The performance LEAF boasts Nismo’s signature white and light blue livery, with LED lighting incorporated into the bumper, adding to its sporty new look.

The concept also benefits from reduced weight that improves the car’s overall performance – it can reach 62mph in less than 7 seconds – without modifying the standard 80kW (107hp) motor. A small power increase could be featured on a final production version, however.
"Nissan LEAF has shown that zero emission mobility is no longer a dream but a reality. The Nismo Concept not only proves the hidden potential of Nissan LEAF but also adds even more excitement and energy to LEAF, delivering a guilt-free yet exhilarating driving experience that can be enjoyed by every car enthusiast," said Hideaki Watanabe, Nissan’s Corporate Vice President.
Some reports have suggested we could see the LEAF Nismo Concept for sale in 2012. At the moment, though, Nissan tells us only that it is reintroducing Nismo-tuned versions of its cars and is “undecided” about which concepts will make it into showrooms."
