EUA - Volt continua a vender mais do que o Leaf. (Chevrolet Volt Outsells Nissan Leaf, Again)


"The 2011 Chevrolet Volt has managed yet again to outsell the 2011 Nissan Leaf. The good news for the Japanese automaker is that they’ve managed to sell almost five times more Leaf in comparison to February, but they still are far behind Chevrolet. In March, there were 906 plug-in cars sold: 608 Volts and 298 Leafs, which is a lot more from February’s sales of 281 and 67, respectively.

Up until now, Nissan managed to sell a mere 471 Leafs, while Chevrolet did a lot better, delivering 1,536 Volts, since the first Leaf was delivered back in December 2010, followed just three days later by the first Chevy Volt.

Let’s not forget about the small manufacturer Think, located in Elkhart, Indiana, who managed to sell 27 units of its City two-seat electric car last month. Their grand total reached the 95 sold units mark, since their introduction in last December.

Add all these figures up and you will get a grand total of 2,100 brand new plug-in EVs, either bought or leased."

"Remember last month, when we tallied up the cumulative North American sales of both the Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf? Well, it's been 31 days and that means it's time to check in again. When we did so, we found that, while neither vehicle is breaking sales records, the sales numbers are moving in the right direction. Maybe that's why GM is making the Volt sales numbers a bit easier to find this time around, mentioning in the press release that, "A total of 1,210 Chevrolet Volts have been delivered in 2011, including 608 deliveries in March."

So - drum roll, please - here are the latest U.S. sales totals for the plug-in challengers, since launching late last year:
Volt: 1,536
Leaf: 471
A few things to keep in mind: 1.) the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan have not yet affected sales numbers, but we may see an impact next month. 2.) Nissan is reserving most Leafs for domestic sales (over 5,000 have been made thus far). 3.) Both companies are selling more now than before. The Leaf sold 298 units in March vs. 67 in February; the Volt moved 608 in March vs. 281 in February."
