GE introduces wind-powered electric vehicle charging

"You’re sure to have heard the arguments against electric cars – that even though they offer zero exhaust emissions, they merely displace the negative effects on the environment because of how that electricity is sourced. However, now GE and Urban Green Energy are attempting to address this.

Together they have unveiled the Sanya Skypump (pictured), the first integrated wind-powered electric vehicle charging station. It combines a 4kW vertical wind turbine with GE’s Durastation electric vehicle charging technology.
According to Urban Green Energy, the turbines outperform any other in the industry as they spread both vertical and horizontal forces across the length of the axis. This boosts durability and power production.
The first wind-powered electric vehicle charging station can be found as Cespa’s global headquarters near Barcelona in Spain.
When it is not being used, the UGE-4K turbine will send energy back into the grid: boosting the local electric grid with renewable energy."
