An electric vehicle charging with AC always causes some harmonic disturbance on the grid and the ZOE is no exception unfortunately. Normally this does not cause many issues.
Since some time we connect many of our stations to a medium-voltage grid connection to be prepared for higher charge speeds and expansion of the number of chargers. Unfortunately older ZOE's give quite a few issues when charging at these stations. Newer ZOE's can charge without any issues.
It looks like the harmonic disturbance of older ZOE's is amplified because of the close proximity of the transformer. Charging is subsequently aborted by the ZOE or the charger.
To ensure optimal charging of every ZOE we have decided to limit the AC-connector of one of the chargers at the effected stations to 22 kW. The affected ZOE's can then charge at a lower speed since this does not seem to cause any issues.
