"If you're a next-generation driver in Japan, there's a chance you may learn how to navigate the roadways in a next-generation car. Auto leasing firm Sumitomo Mitsui Auto Service, which already has something of an EV-oriented relationship with Nissan, will lease 20 shiny new Leafs to driving school company SDS (Safety Driving Systems).
The all-electric vehicles will be deployed at 21 of the school's location spread across eight different prefectures (provinces). It is hoped that the experience will encourage people to consider buying a battery-powered car as their personal vehicle. If they do, then these could be some of the first drivers who will never have to experience the dirty realities of fossil-fuel powered cars."
